iRacing Rules

How the RMPT iRacing Season 2 championship works — formats, points, stewarding and classifications.

Race nights & format

Races run every Wednesday, 7:30pm AEST.

Standard rounds run practice, qualifying, a sprint heat (Heat 1) and the feature race. Both races score championship points.

Endurance rounds (Daytona, Le Mans, Spa) are a single 90-minute race with no heat — and carry double points.

Cars still running at the flag count as finishers, even if lapped.

Points & championships

Points are awarded by finishing position in each race session, with qualifying also scoring. The championship is decided on total points across the season; wins break ties.

Stewarding verdicts (time penalties, position drops, points deductions and disqualifications) are applied to the classification and re-rank results and standings immediately.

PRO / PRO-AM classification

Every entered driver is classified PRO or PRO-AM based on pace and experience, set by the league at the season entry list. Standings can be viewed Overall, PRO only or PRO-AM only. Reserve and one-off drivers appear as Guests.

Cars & numbers

The season is a multi-make GT3 championship — drivers pick their machinery at the start of the season. Racing numbers come from the official entry list; a driver's profile always shows their current car and entry-list number.

Incident reporting & stewarding

Incidents can be reported to the stewards after each round. Every verdict is published in the public stewarding log with the round, session, decision and penalty.

Drivers may appeal a verdict. Appeals are reviewed by the stewards and can be upheld, dismissed or reduced — a successful appeal never erases the record; the original verdict stays on the log marked as overturned.

Possible outcomes: time penalty, position drop, points deduction, disqualification, formal warning, or "racing incident" (no further action).
